14 nights 16 days Cycling tour to Kunming, Lijiang, the Tiger-leaping Gorge, Haba village, Sanba village, Zhongdian, Wongshui, Shangri-la Canyon, Guilin, Yangshuo and Guangzhou 


China is a land of cycling. It is also a convenient way of travelling that is becoming more and more popular. Guilin, Kunming and Lijiang are well known for their scenery, history and culture. Cycling around Guilin and Yunan, visitors can enjoy the beauty of the mountains, rivers and pastoral scenes and something of the local customs.

Most of time, you will ride your bicycle to visit Dragon Gate and Western Hill in Kunming; the old town and the Black Dragon Pon, Qiao tou Town near Lijiang;  Walnut Grove  (located middle part of the Tiger-leaping Gorge), Haba villagem Sanba village, Zhongdian, Wongshui village around Shangri-la; Seven Star park, Red Flute Cave,Elephant Trunk Hill, and Diecai Hill in Guilin; and Moon Hill and Banyan Tree in Yangshuo.

 

Includes:

4* hotel accommodations based on twin share (or local best in Shangri-la villages), full meals, all transfers/transportation in air conditioned buses, English speaking guide, all domestic flights, all sightseeing and entrance fees,  bilingual bicycle tour guide, a support vehicle for transport of gear. Day 01 US/China
Board your flight to China today.

Day 02 Arrival Guangzhou
Arrive in Guangzhou, transfer to your hotel.

Day 3 Guangzhou/Kunming (B/L/D)
Arrive in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, meet at airport and transfer to your hotel. Sightseeing in the Dragon Gate which consist of some grottos cut out of the vertical cliff face of the Western Hill, from there, you can have a panoramic view of the city and the big lake beside it.

Day 4 Kunming/Lijiang (B/L/D)
Take a morning flight to Lijiang, the beautiful old town which has been listed into the World Culture Heritage. Sightseeing in the old town and the Black Dragon Pond. Overnight in Lijinag.

Day 5 Lijiang/Walnut Grove (B/L/D)
Drive to Qiaotou Town, which is the entrance to the Tiger-leaping Gorge. Start cycling into the gorge, the road is not paved, the altitude is about 2000 m above see level, you will bike about 12 km to Walnut Grove which is a tranquil village in the middle part of the gorge, overnight in Woody's House.

Day 6 Walnut Grove - Haba (B/L/D)
Cycle about 20 km to Haba village, out of the gorge, the road start going up. Stay at Snow Sea Hostel

Day 7 Haba-Sanba-Zhongdian (B/L/D)
Cycle about 18 km to Sanba village, visit the White Water Terrace, the sacred land of Naxi Dongba Culture. Your driver will pick you up and drive to Zhongdian, the gateway to Tibet. Zhongdian has only been opened to tourists since 1992. Experience authentic Tibetan culture in this mountainous region. Overnight in Zhongdian(3300 m above sea level).

Day 8 Zhongdian – Wongshui (B/L/D)
Today is a tough day, you will ride about 105 km to Wongshui village which is 3700 m above sea level, on the way, the road will go through a mountain pass which is 4300 m high. But the scenery is very beautiful. Now you know why this Tibetan area is called Shangri-la. Stay with a Tibetan family.

Day 9 Wongshui-Zhongdian (B/L/D)
Trek about 6 km into the Shangri-la Canyon, sightseeing in the canyon, after having lunch in a Tibetan family, trek out the canyon and drive back to Zhongdian.

Day 10 Zhongdian-Napa Lake-Zhongdian (B/L/D)
Cycle about 8 km to a beautiful alpine lake, Napa Lake, in the morning, the lake is a nature reserve for birds, especially the black-necked crane. After lunch, Visit Songzanlin Monastery, where the Yellow Hat School of Tibetan Buddhism is practiced. This large center, base for 1200 monks before the destruction of Tibet in the 1950s, is experiencing a significant rebirth. Overnight in Zhongdian.

Day 11 Zhongdian/Kunming/Guilin (B/L/D)
Take a morning flight back to Kunming. After lunch, transfer to airport for Guilin.

Day 12 Guilin (B/L/D)
Today's bicycle tour starts with a visit to the Seven-Star Park, which contains Camel Hill with a miniature garden, and Seven Star Hill whose Seven peaks are positioned like the stars in the Big Dipper. The followed exploration in the Red Flute Cave needs your imagination to follow the guides' description of the limestone which is supposed to resemble a giant goldfish, a Buddha, and assorted vegetables. And the next scene spot, Elephant Trunk Hill, resembles an elephant leisurely sucking water from the river with its long trunk. Another spot Diecai Hill has numerous small peaks, all of which have dreamy names such as Bright Moon, etc. The hills have many stone carvings of the Tang Dynasty. Overnight in Guilin.

Day 13 Guilin-Yangshuo (B/L/D)
Excursion is a cruise along the enchanting scenic Li River. By experiencing the magical beauty of limestone rock formations and farmland commonly seen in Chinese landscape paintings, you will enjoy yourself in the quiet, pastoral landscapes as a departure from the complex pragmatic world. A five-hour Lijiang River Cruise amid a watercolor fantasyland crowns you full day tour and finally lead you to the charming village Yangshuo. which has one of the best antique and handicraft markets in China. You can spend some leisure time in the Yangshuo West Street. This 2000-m-long street is fully crowed with stores, bars, cafes and hotels. Nearly all the dwellers, old and young, in the street can speak simple English and the street was regarded as the largest foreign language corner in China.

Day 14 Yangshuo (B/L/D)
After a breakfast, we will have a guided bike tour to Moon Hill. The highway from Guilin turns southward at Yangshuo and after a couple of kilometers crosses the Jingbao River. South of this river and just to the west of the highway is a limestone pinnacle with a moon-shaped hole penetrating the hill. Hence it's named Moon Hill. Then you will go to view the famous tall Banyan Tree. It is said that the tall banyan was planted in the Jin Dynasty and is now famous for its age and towering beauty. The banyan tree is now 17 meters high, 7.1 meters around the trunk, and covers an area of 1000 square meters.

Day 15 Yangshuo-Guilin/Guangzhou (B/L/D)
Back to Guilin, tour in Guilin, transfer to airport to Guangzhou. Upon arrival, check in your hotel.

Day 16 Guangzhou/ (B)
Transfer to airport for your flight home.
