Great Wall Trekking Tour

7 nights, 9 days Great Wall trekking tour to Jiankou, Mutianyu, Jinshanling, Simatai

Trekking doesn't simply mean a leisurely walk. It’s serious tramping with purposes and targets. Those who wish to go on foot can learn much, become fitter - and sightsee at the same time! They experience their surroundings in a unique way. There are several sections of Great Wall around Beijing. About 70 km to the northwest is the famous Badaling Great Wall where most travellers visit; about 90 km to the north, is the Mutianyu Great Wall which is becoming more and more popular; about 120 km to the northeast is the impressive Simatai Great Wall which is also increasing in popularity. This tour takes you trekking from Beijing Knot to Mutianyu via Jiankou, then from Gubeikou to Simatai via Jinshanling.

Included:

7 nights 4* hotel accommodation based on twin share (or local best in villages near Great Wall), full meals, all transfers/transportation in air conditioned buses, all sightseeing and entrance fees, English speaking tour guide, the cost of one surgeon along the journey.

Drive north for 3 hours to Xishanzi Village in Huairou District, then trek up to Beijing Knot where two sections of Great Wall meet to form a big Y-shape, thus got the name Beijing Knot. From here, you will trek southeast to Jiankou, on the way, you will trek down a nearly 60 degree steep slope called Ladder to Heaven. Jiankou is the lowest point of the Great Wall in this section. Stay in a local guesthouse or camping.

Day 4 Jiankou – Mutianyu - Miyun (B/L/D)
Continue trek east from Jiankou to Mutianyu, on the way, you will pass the Zhengbei Tower and the Bull Horn Tower. In the late afternoon, trek down the Mutianyu Great Wall, then drive to check in a 2 star hotel by the Miyun Reservoir.

Day 5 Miyun - Guanmen (B/L/D)
Drive 2 hours to Guanmen Village in Gubeikou Great Wall, then trek southeast to the General Tower. Today’s trekking is not easy because there are many high grasses growing on the wall. Camping.

Day 6 Guanmen - Jinshanling (B/L/D)
Continue trek east from General Tower to Jinshanling, on the way, you will pass a military area where you have to trek a short distance away from the wall. Today’s trekking is easy because the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall is still kept well. Camping.

Day 7 Jinshanling – Simatai (B/L/D)
Continue trek east from Jinshanling to Simatai, on the way, you will pass a bridge, trek up the Ladder to Heaven, and pass the Fairy Lady Tower, finally get to the Viewing Capital Tower which is the highest point of your trekking.
