Day 1        Saturday    Mar 13th 2010      Seattle/Beijing

Travel(on your own) to Seattle International Airport for an afternoon flight to Beijing. Your adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific aboard a wide cabin jetliner and cross the international dateline!

Day 2         Sunday      Mar 14th 2010      Beijing (D)

Arrive in Beijing, the dynamic capital of the People's Republic of China. Once the imperial city of Mongol, Ming and Manchu emperors, Beijing today is still extraordinarily rich in historical sites and cultural relics. When arriving in Beijing, you will be greeted by our professional tour guide at the Beijing Capital Airport and then transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day will be free for your own leisure.  

Day 3         Monday     Mar 15th 2010      Beijing (B/L/D)

After breakfast, visit Tiananmen Square, the largest square in the world. Then we will walk to the Palace Museum, known as the Forbidden City, where exquisite architecture and a vast glimpse of the staggeringly opulent lifestyles of the Chinese emperors and their concubines. You’ll also pass by the National Grand Theatre, designed by the French architect Paul Andreu, located west of Tian’anmen Square, the egg-shaped structure is 46.68 meters tall and reaches a depth of 32.5 meters and is covered with more than 20,000 titanium tiles. Lunch is followed by a visit of the Summer Palace, a former royal resort for Empress Dowager Ci Xi. Enjoy the Beijing Acrobatic Show in the evening. 

Day 4          Tuesday     Mar 16th 2010      Beijing (B/L/D)

The highlight today is the astonishing Juyong Pass of the Great Wall of China, the only man-made structure on the earth that can be observed by the naked eyes from the moon. In the afternoon, take a tour to the Ming Tombs, the well-preserved imperial cemetery of Ming Dynasty. Later in the day, you will take a tour of the Olympic Park where you will view the exterior of the Bird Nest-China National Stadium and Water Cube-China National Aquatic Center. Enjoy the most famous Peking Duck Dinner Party in the evening.  

Day 5       Wednesday    Mar 17th 2010      Beijing (B/L/D)

This morning you will learn the traditional Tai Chi to start the day in the beautiful park of Temple of Heaven, where Ming and Qing monarchs prayed for good harvests, to gain some Yin and Yang energy under the instruction of Tai Chi masters. In the afternoon, take a tour to the Historic Hutongs (narrow alley or lanes) via pedicab, stopping to visit the Siheyuan (traditional local courtyard style home) of a local resident. You will also have the precious opportunity to learn the authentic Chinese calligraphy from calligraphy masters. After that, you will visit The Capital Museum, it tells the story of ancient Beijing, which has served as a capital city for more than 850 years and the Chinese capital, more or less, since the mid-17th century. Enjoy an optional tour of Chinese Kong Fu Show in the evening. 

Day 6         Thursday        Mar 18th 2010      Beijing/Xian  (B/L/D)

This morning you will take a flight to Xian, the ancient capital city for 11 dynasties in the history. Upon arrival, we will go to visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Enjoy an Imperial Dumpling dinner banquet, followed by an on-stage Show of Tang Dynasty dance and music in the evening.

Day 7         Friday            Mar 19th 2010      Xian  (B/L/D) 

Today you will take an excursion to the awesome Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses, which is the most exciting archaeological finds of the 20th Century, widely regarded as the eighth wonder of the world. After lunch, you will take a bus ride back inside city limits, stopping at the massive Ancient City Wall, the best preserved ancient wall structure on earth.

Day 8         Saturday        Mar 20th 2010      Xian/Shanghai (B/L/D)

Today you will take a flight to the city of Shanghai, China’s most popular metropolis that has attracted the visitors from all over the world. After lunch, you will take a tour of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the world’s Second tallest landmark. Then stroll on The Bund, an area centers on a section within the former Shanghai International Settlement, which runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River, facing Pudong. And Chenghuang Temple, originally constructed in the Ming dynasty. Now it is also a place of shopping and tourist attraction, where many stores sell various goods snacks that are specialized in Shanghai.

Day 9          Sunday          Mar 21st 2010      Shangha/Xitang/Shanghai (B/L/D)

Full day tour to water village Xitang with lunch. Xitang is built on a plain crossed by nine rivers, which divide it into eight districts. It is also famous for its 104 bridges, dating all from Ming and Qing Dynasty, its alleys and its covered passages. In 2005, Hollywood star Tom Cruise was there filming his "Mission Impossible 3". 

Day 10        Monday         Mar 22nd 2010      Shanghai/Seattle (B)

Time to go home! You will take a morning flight to transit at Beijing then you’ll head for Seattle where you will arrive at 12:00pm on the same day and return to Minnesota via individually planned transportation.
