 Itinerary

 
Day 1        Saturday    Mar 13th 2010  or Mar 20th , or Mar. 27th     Seattle/Beijing

Travel(on your own) to Seattle International Airport for an afternoon flight to Beijing. Your adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific aboard a wide cabin jetliner and cross the international dateline!

Day 2         Sunday      Beijing (D)

Arrive in Beijing, the dynamic capital of the People's Republic of China. Once the imperial city of Mongol, Ming and Manchu emperors, Beijing today is still extraordinarily rich in historical sites and cultural relics. Arrival at 4:15pm, after clearing government formalities, meet your local guide and transfer to your hotel. 

Enjoy welcome dinner and Beijing city night view including the intriguing architecture of the main Olympic venues, the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) where the Opening and Closing Ceremonies held in 2008, and the National Aquatics with the nickname of “the Water Cube (H2O3)” for its  unique out looking.

Day 3         Monday     Beijing (B/L/D)

After breakfast, visit Temple of Heaven, the 500 year old Temple houses altars on which sacrifices and offerings were laid to the gods in a glorious setting of gardens, tress and sculptures. Continue to City Planning Museum, where introduce the long history of the immortal city of Beijing, display the great achievements of the modern urban planning and development, and exhibit the splendid future of Beijing's urban development. Visit Tiananmen Square (the worlds largest city square) before lunch. After lunch, visit Forbidden City, the vast complex of palaces, which was the home to successive Emperors for more than 500 years. and  if time permits, to Beijing City Underground (the vault built in early 60th for the war time period). Famous Beijing Roasted Duck dinner will be a perfect ending of the day.

 
Day 4          Tuesday     Beijing (B/L/D)

Morning tour to the Great Wall at Mutianyu, stretching almost 4,000 miles from the Pacific Ocean to the sands of Central Asia and befittingly crowned one of the ten wonders of the world. Picnic lunch atop of Great Wall. In the afternoon, visit Beijing Sport University, where you will find the Garden of Champions, as more than 50 students graduated from this university have won world championship titles, and more than 60 have won Asian championship titles; visiting indoor training gyms and outdoor sports fields and courts, museum etc. Followed by taking a pedi-cab Hutong tour and visit local resident's courtyard home. If time permits, visit Xiushui Market before or after dinner.

 
Day 5       Wednesday    Beijing/Shanghai/Suzhou (B/L/D)

Take a morning China Hainan flight to Shanghai, then take the tour bus trip to Suzhou. The afternoon sightseeing is to the centuries old Lingering Garden, and Hanshan Temple. Visit to the National Embroidery Institute to see silk embroidery, an important local craft with 1,000 years history. Finally, enjoy an evening dinner show of the traditional Chinese music.

Day 6         Thursday        Suzhou/Tongli/Shanghai  (B/L/D)

Morning visit to Suzhou High School. We will go to different classrooms to have some activities, such as brush calligraphy, Chinese cooking, martial art (Kongfu) and handcraft. Before drive back to Shanghai via Tongli, a historic water town with more than one thousand years of history. Fifteen rivers divide the town into seven island and 49 sets of historic bridges connecting the town as a whole. Lunch will be at a local restaurant, drive to shanghai. Visit the Bund, a popular promenade along the Huangpu River, where the old meets the modern in Shanghai.

 
 
Day 7         Friday           Shanghai (B/L/D)

In the morning, visit the old Bazzar,  the Yu Garden, a maze of marvelous pavilions, ponds, rocky works and over-arching trees. Afternoon, visit to Lu Pu Bridge. You will take the high-speed elevator up to the main deck of the bridge, then walk up 367 steps of the arch , the back of this “giant-bow”, for about 280 meters long, reach the 110 meters high viewing platform. Enjoy a fantastic bird view of both the Huangpu River and the 2010 Expo Park. If time permit, visit Shanghai Children’s Palace where offers after-school-education for gifted children aging from 5 to 14. Enjoy Acrobatic show tonight.
 

Day 8         Saturday       Shanghai (B)

Time to go home! You will take a morning flight to transit at Beijing then youll head for Seattle where you will arrive at 12:00pm on the same day and return to Minnesota via individually planned transportation.
